Matt and I just returned from an amazing two days and nights camping and hiking in Yosemite National Park. Both of us are big outdoor lovers; I grew up rock climbing and Matt has been a huge lover of backpacking since he was a kid.
I think every couple (really, every person) should spend time in the wilderness sleeping outside. We were completely free of distractions created by work, school, other people, social media, cell phones, and television. We slept when it got too dark, and woke up when the sky got too bright. We were able to focus completely on each other, and I felt so loved and in love. I brought a good book with me, and read aloud to him every night, by the fire and in our tent. It was so relaxing and sweet. I kept thinking the whole time how happy I was to be with my best friend.
We also hiked 8.5 miles to some gorgeous waterfalls (and had a near-death experience with a rattlesnake). Both of us love staying in shape and the views were more than worth the trek. We made s’mores, too, and pretty much everything we ate tasted better because we were eating it outside in such a gorgeous place.
I’m sad to be home, but happy to sleep in a comfy bed tonight!
